Spotlight on Keystone ABA: Partnering for Inclusion and Growth

At Open Up, we’re always excited to highlight organizations in our community that are making a real difference for children and families. One of those is Keystone ABA, founded by Jessica Setzler, who has built a program grounded in inclusion, play, and respect for every child’s unique voice.

What sets Keystone ABA apart is their approach. Instead of relying only on structured drills, their team uses play-based social learning so children can grow alongside peers in meaningful, inclusive ways. They focus on teaching functional communication to help replace challenging behaviors with skills that truly empower children. And with their assent-based therapy model, every child’s voice is honored—kids are never just “recipients” of therapy, but active participants in their own learning and growth.

Families who come to Keystone ABA often discover that support goes far beyond therapy sessions. Jessica and her team walk alongside parents, offering family-centered guidance to navigate early intervention and special education systems. They help prepare children for the big step into kindergarten and, just as importantly, advocate fiercely for each child’s right to learn, grow, and belong.

It’s this combination of expertise and heart that makes Keystone ABA such a trusted resource. Their model of personalized, intensive treatment, paired with small BCBA caseloads, allows for deeper relationships with children and families. They’re known for reliability—sessions are never canceled—and for their thoughtful collaboration with preschools to balance school and therapy schedules. The end goal is always the same: successful transitions into inclusive environments where kids can thrive.

Keystone ABA’s clinic, located in Oakland, is designed to be a child-friendly space filled with warmth and welcome. It’s a place where families can feel at ease and children can feel safe as they build new skills.

When asked why she wanted to support Open Up’s Yoga Mini & Me classes, Jessica shared that the partnership just made sense. “These classes give children the chance to connect with their caregivers, explore movement, and build social skills in a joyful and inclusive space,” she explained. “That’s exactly what we strive for at Keystone ABA, so supporting Yoga Mini & Me felt like a natural fit.”

We’re so grateful for Keystone ABA’s commitment to inclusion, growth, and community. With partners like them, more children and families are finding spaces where they truly belong.
